I've never done therapy before. How do I get started?
The first step is to book a free, no obligation 15-minute consultation call. During this call, we can talk a bit about what concerns you're dealing with and how I can help!

How do I book an appointment and how often can I have sessions?
You can easily book an appointment at any time through my online booking page: rgtherapy.janeapp.com
If you don't see a time that works for you, please get in touch with me so we can find a time that works! You can reach me at rachel@rgtherapy.ca.
The frequency of sessions depends on what works for you! Some people like to have a session every week, some prefer to only talk once every few weeks.
What kinds of problems can you help with? What are your specializations?
I specialize in helping women navigate life transitions and grief as well as other life stressors like money anxiety and burnout. See my Specializations page for more information.
What are your qualifications and experience?
I am a registered social worker (MSW, RSW) and psychotherapist with over 5 years of experience providing compassionate, trauma-informed care to hundreds of clients. You can read my bio here.
Do you offer in person sessions?
Yes! I offer in person sessions in downtown Toronto at 114 Beverley Street on Wednesdays and Thursdays, including evening appointments. I also offer phone and virtual appointments from Tuesday - Saturday.
How long do I need to do therapy before I feel better?
It depends! Some people start feeling better in the first session because finally having a chance to talk about their situation gives them a lot of relief.
For other people, it takes a few sessions before they can really feel comfortable opening up and addressing the problems that have bothered them for years (or even their whole life). I won't rush you into anything and I will be here to support you, however long it takes.
What areas do you serve?
I have an in-person location in downtown Toronto (114 Beverley Street) and I also offer virtual and phone sessions to people anywhere in Ontario, Nunavut, or the Yukon.
How long are sessions and how much do they cost?
Each session is 50 minutes long and costs $180. The first session may take a bit longer (60-75 minutes) but the cost is the same.
I can sometimes take on clients with financial need for a reduced fee. Please get in touch with me at rachel@rgtherapy.ca to see if I can offer you a reduced rate.
How do I pay for sessions? Is this covered by OHIP?
I accept e-transfers and major credit cards (Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Debit Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay). I also offer insurance direct billing!
Unfortunately, my services are not covered by OHIP.
What insurance companies do you direct bill to?
I can direct bill to a long list of insurers, including GreenShield, Manulife, Medavie Blue Cross, Canada Life, and more! Check out the full list here.
How long does therapy take? Do I have to commit to a certain number of sessions?
Each person is unique so it is hard to say how long it will take for you to feel like you don't need therapy anymore but you could start noticing a difference in how you feel within a few sessions. Some people feel a lot of relief even after just the first session.
You don't need to commit to a certain minimum number of sessions! I let you set the pace and decide when to start and when to stop.
